St. John Vianney's Great Love for Our Lord in the Most Blessed Sacrament...

St. John Vianney (1786 – 1859), is the universal patron of all parish priests. Therefore, we, (and especially us priests), need to study his words, imitate his life and adopt his beliefs. Here are some quotes of his about the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass and adoration of the Blessed Sacrament.

“All the good works in the world are not equal to the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass because they are the works of men; but the Mass is the work of God. Martyrdom is nothing in comparison for it is but the sacrifice of man to God; but the Mass is the sacrifice of God for man.”

Here he reminds us of the infinite greatness and power of the Holy Latin Mass. As we traditional Catholics contend, the Holy Latin Mass is the re-made presence of Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross in an un-bloody form, at Calvary. And only because it is Jesus’ sacrifice re made present, is it so great and powerful. The protestants just believe in the eating of bread and drinking grape juice in memory of the Last Supper.

“Without the Holy Eucharist there would be no happiness in this world; life would be insupportable. When we receive Holy Communion, we receive our joy and our happiness. The good God, wishing to give Himself to us in the Sacrament of His Love, gave us a vast and great desire, which He alone can satisfy. In the presence of this beautiful Sacrament, we are like a person dying of thirst by the side of a river — he would only need to bend his head; like a person still remaining poor, close to a great treasure — he need only stretch out his hand. He who communicates loses himself in God like a drop of water in the ocean. They can no more be separated,”

As the world, and most Catholics, do not believe or have need for the Holy Eucharist, we are seeing the fruits of their belief: death, despair, depression and selfishness. The medicine is free and available, but most Catholics and people prefer themselves or others to Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament.

“Every Consecrated Host is made to burn Itself up with love in a human heart.”

Every time we receive Holy Communion, are hearts are being filled up divine love to be shared with others. That is why it is so important to obey God out of love and respect for who He is, but it is also important to show great charity to our families and those around us, (sinners and saints alike).

“I throw myself at the foot of the Tabernacle like a dog at the foot of his Master.”

St. John Vianney’s humility is so important for every Catholic to learn. This is why we traditional Catholics humbly kneel at the foot of Jesus in adoration and to receive Holy Communion. And this is why we want all Catholics to do the same because we are in the presence of God.

“When you awake in the night, transport yourself quickly in spirit before the Tabernacle, saying: ‘Behold, my God, I come to adore You, to praise, thank, and love you, and to keep you company with all the Angels.”

At all times in the presence of God, Holy Mass or Blessed Sacrament, we are obliged to behave like the Angels by adoring, praising, thanking and loving God.

“The many wonders of creation can only fill us with astonishment and admiration. But when we speak of the most holy Eucharist we can say that here is to be found the miracle of divine love for us…. Has there been, or will there ever be, a nobler or more magnanimous love than that which He has shown us in the sacrament of love?”

We all need love. The world needs love. Why not go to the divine source of Love?

“What does Jesus Christ do in the Eucharist? It is God who, as our Savior, offers himself each day for us to his Father’s justice. If you are in difficulties and sorrows, he will comfort and relieve you. If you are sick, he will either cure you or give you strength to suffer so as to merit Heaven. If the devil, the world, and the flesh are making war upon you, he will give you the weapons with which to fight, to resist, and to win victory. If you are poor, he will enrich you with all sorts of riches for time and eternity. Let us open the door of his sacred and adorable Heart, and be wrapped about for an instant by the flames of his love, and we shall see what a God who loves us can do. O my God, who shall be able to comprehend?”

“The soul hungers for God, and nothing but God can satiate it. Therefore He came to dwell on earth and assumed a Body in order that this Body might become the Food of our souls.”

We all try to fill up our souls with money, sex, lovers, possessions and social networking. But it all still leaves emptiness in our hearts that Only God Can Fill Up.

“If we really loved the good God, we should make it our joy and happiness to come and spend a few moments to adore Him, and ask Him for the grace of forgiveness; and we should regard those moments as the happiest of our lives.”

Making time for prayer, especially daily Latin Mass and Adoration before the Blessed Sacrament, is very very difficult to do. First, because it does not come natural to do, it has to become a discipline that we understand to be worthwhile, like exercise or eating healthily, and then doing it. Secondly, we are too busy. We need to make time to be refreshed and strengthened by Jesus.

“If we could comprehend all the good things contained in Holy Communion, nothing more would be wanting to content the heart of man. The miser would run no more after his treasures, or the ambitious after glory; each would shake off the dust of the earth, leave the world, and fly away towards heaven.”

We waste so much of our life working to buy the treasures of this world. They are all dust. They will be ripped from us at death, unless we have already relinquished them to God and Mary right now.

“When we go before the Blessed Sacrament, let us open our heart; our good God will open His. We shall go to Him; He will come to us; the one to ask, the other to receive. It will be like a breath from one to the other.”

Even us traditional Catholics need to work on this personal friendship with Jesus. That is why, besides Holy Mass, the Holy Rosary and other written prayers, we also learn to just relax and chat with our friend Jesus, present in the Holy Tabernacle.

“Jesus Christ, after having given us all he could give, that is to say, the merit of his toils, his sufferings, and bitter death; after having given us his adorable Body and Blood to be the food of our souls, willed also to give us the most precious thing he had let, which was his holy Mother.”

St. John Bosco also said that the two pillars of safety were the Holy Eucharist and Mary. Thank you Jesus for Mary.

“Our Lord is hidden there, waiting for us to come and visit him and ask him or what we want. He is there, in the Sacrament of his love, sighing and interceding unceasingly for sinners before God his Father. He is there to console us … See how good he is! He adapts himself to our weakness… In heaven where we shall be triumphant and glorious, we shall see him in all his glory; if he had appeared before us now in glory, we should not have dared to approach him; but he hides himself like one in prison, saying to us, ‘You do not see me, but that does not matter; ask me for all you want, and I will grant it you.”

See how gently St. John Vianney attempts to draw us to Jesus. We traditional Catholics need to learn from him and share our faith gently too.

“A mortal man, a creature, feeds himself, satiates himself, with his God, taking him for his daily bread, his drink… O miracle of miracles!… O love of loves!… O joy of joys!”

“When we speak to Jesus with simplicity and with all our heart, He does like a mother who holds her child’s head with her hands and covers it with kisses and caresses.”

St. John Vianney always lived dirt poor. But when it came to the altar, the chalice and other things used for God in the Holy Latin Mass, he got the best possible. You can see this by going to Ars or looking up pictures of the Church where he was pastor.

We are so blessed to be traditional Catholics and have St. John Vianney to teach us.

Veronica - Our Lady now is rising very high up into the sky, and She's--now the sky is becoming very, very bright, very bright, and Our Lady is pointing upward with Her hand, and there is a tremendous white cross now forming in the sky. It's a brilliant cross. And now--it's a large cross, but behind it, I see many, many smaller crosses. They are also white. It's like a field, a whole field of crosses.
